Human Waste - Demo (1986)

(info gathered from www.australianpunk.com)

Human Waste started in mid 1984 when four 3PBS-FM radio station punk show announcers decided to start a band after attending many punk gigs around town.

They were basically a garage punk band just doing covers of Black Flag, Flipper and a few originals.

In 1985 with guidance from Hardcore House they released a demo of original songs and played a few gigs with Depression, Vicious Circle etc...A highlight was playing a 12 minute rendition of “Sexbomb” by Flipper at the Prince of Wales after a Depression show that got mentioned on a few radio stations around town.

The name Human Waste originated from a school project about world war one, thus a lot of the songs was based around this topic and other political views.

In 1986 Phil Mc Dougall decided to leave to concentrate on his record label “Reactor Records”.

They recruited Peter Damage from the local scene to be the lead singer and played a few gigs until Stan decided to leave.

In mid 1986 they changed there name to “Extremes” and became a 3 piece outfit.

This demo was recorded at Hardcore House by Smeer in January 1986.

Hey Charger - Klod's Half Time Rentals (1996)

Hey Charger was originally formed in 1995 by Bill Gibson on bass and vocals (Eastern Dark, New Christs) and Alan Creed guitar and vocals (New Christs, Panadolls, Hell Crab City) with former Eastern Dark/Red Planet Rocketts drummer Geoff Milne with the aim of playing highly bubblegummy guitar power-pop. Milne left before the Klods Half Time Rentals EP was recorded in 1996 and was replaced by Peter Kelly (New Christs, Vanilla Chainsaws). Also lending a hand with backing vocals in the studio was drummer Oxx (Simon Cooper) ex Fester Fanatics, Massive Appendage, Fruitworld who sadly died within a year of this recording. Shortly after the release of the EP Gibson left to join the Lemonheads for an extensive recording and touring schedule leaving Creed to move on to the New Christs with Kelly and disbanding Hey Charger leaving behind this one release of glorious guitar pop extraordinaire.

The Eastern Dark - Sack The Barber! (1984-1986)

When Bill Gibson emailed me a week or so ago asking if I was interested in putting some unreleased Eastern Dark songs on the site, I nearly fell off my chair. I thought to myself, how great will it be to hear three or four rare recordings of this great band... Here's what he sent.

"This is a compilation of the songs we didn't use (or didn't have desk-tape recordings of) for the 'Girls On The Beach (With Cars)' album. The recordings come from various venues including The Tivoli, Trade Union Club, Sutherland Royal Hotel, Strawberry Hills Hotel and Gatton Agricultural College (QLD). Additionally, there's a demo version of I Don't Need The Reasons recorded by Tim Pittman as part of his audio engineering course, which was an unlisted bonus track on the original version of this. I originally compiled it for a few close associates of the band around the time Half A Cow released the "Where Are All The Single Girls?" CD, then uploaded it to dimeadozen.org on the 20th anniversary of James Darroch's passing in 2006." - Bill Gibson 2007.
